You will deliver high-quality English teaching across the primary age range, supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs. The successful candidate will be someone who understands that every learner is different and can adapt their teaching, communication and approach to help pupils make meaningful progress.

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across the primary age range, adapting teaching to suit individual needs.
Support pupils with reading, writing, phonics, spelling, comprehension and communication.
Adapt and differentiate lessons to meet individual EHCP targets, learning needs and abilities.
Use a range of SEND-friendly teaching strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, sensory and communication needs.
Break down learning into manageable, accessible steps to help pupils build confidence and independence.
Create a calm, structured and predictable classroom environment.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage engagement with learning.
Support pupils who may have previously struggled to engage with mainstream education.
Work closely with SENCOs, teaching assistants, pastoral staff and families to provide consistent support.
Contribute to individual support plans and monitor pupil progress.
Use positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies to support pupils who may struggle with engagement or self-regulation.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience in their learning.
QTS with experience teaching within a primary setting.
Strong experience teaching English across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
Significant experience working with SEND pupils in a mainstream, specialist, SEND or alternative provision setting.
A strong understanding of how SEND can impact learning, communication and behaviour.
Experience adapting and differentiating lessons for pupils with additional needs.
Strong behaviour management and a relational, trauma-informed approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged or have experienced barriers to education.
Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning.
A patient, flexible and nurturing approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
