Oaklea Grange School near Wrexham seeks a Maths Teacher to inspire students with SEMH needs, delivering a personalised maths curriculum that blends academic achievement with wellbeing and life skills. The role emphasizes trauma-informed teaching and collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualified Teacher Status is required, with a proven ability to work independently and develop learners toward recognised qualifications while fostering safeguarding and reflective practice.

Formación

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
  • Significant recent experience teaching children and young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Experience delivering outdoor education, enrichment activities or experiential learning.

Responsabilidades

  • Inspire and engage young people with SEMH, trauma-related needs and complex learning profiles through creative, personalised teaching approaches.
  • Use innovative and imaginative teaching approaches to help students develop confidence, curiosity, and enthusiasm for Maths.
  • Deliver a curriculum that combines academic achievement with wellbeing, personal development and preparation for adulthood.
  • Support learners to achieve recognised qualifications while developing confidence, resilience and essential life skills.
  • Contribute to Oaklea Grange's broad and flexible curriculum, including vocational, outdoor and community-based learning opportunities.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, residential care colleagues, external agencies and community organisations to maximise pupil success.
  • Promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through meaningful learning experiences.
  • Ensure all safeguarding, Prevent, Foundations for Safer Care and mandatory training requirements are completed and maintained.

Salary: £33,406.11 - £46,195.25 per annum

Hours of Week: 40, Term Time Only

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About Oaklea Grange School

Oaklea Grange School, near Wrexham, is a specialist independent school for young people aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where pupils are supported to thrive academically, emotionally and socially. Our personalised "stage not age" curriculum combines academic, vocational, outdoor and community-based learning, helping every young person develop the confidence, skills and qualifications needed to achieve their personal best and prepare for a positive future.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Significant recent experience teaching children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Experience of teaching post-16 learners and supporting successful transitions into further education, employment or training.
  • Vocational teaching experience and/or relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Experience of delivering outdoor education, enrichment activities or experiential learning opportunities.
  • Good understanding of the Estyn Inspection Framework.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional resilience and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding, maintaining professional boundaries and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.
As a Maths Teacher, you will:
