Job summary

The Manchester College, part of the LTE Group, invites applications for a full-time Maths Teacher at our Openshaw campus. You will teach across Entry Level 1 to GCSE, delivering inclusive maths education while supporting learners with SEND and EHCPs, and contribute to curriculum development within the Foundation Learning department.

The role offers a 35-hour week, competitive salary, generous pension, and opportunities to train towards QTS/PGCE with support from our Teaching Academy.

We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw campus to join our Foundation Learning Department as a Maths Teacher on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

As a Maths Teacher within the Foundation Learning department at The Manchester College, you will work across a diverse range of programmes that support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), high needs funding, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and adult learners with additional learning needs. The department is committed to providing inclusive, learner-centred education that enables every student to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve their personal, educational, and employment aspirations.

Working across a variety of programmes, you will teach learners from Entry Level 1 through to GCSE, delivering high-quality maths education that is tailored to meet individual needs, abilities, and aspirations. You will create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential while developing both their mathematical understanding and essential life skills.

In your role, you will plan and deliver an ambitious and inclusive maths curriculum. You will adapt teaching approaches, resources, and assessment strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs, ensuring lessons are accessible, engaging, and appropriately challenging for learners working at different levels. Alongside delivering outstanding teaching, you will contribute to the effective development of your curriculum area, ensuring that quality standards and objectives are met. Working collaboratively with curriculum teams, you will play a key role in supporting positive learner outcomes and driving continuous improvement across the Foundation Learning provision.

We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 – £32,931*. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

*Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*.
