Job summary

Keighley College is seeking a Maths Course Leader to join our Study Programmes team and lead mathematics delivery from Entry Level to GCSE. You will develop the maths curriculum, support colleagues, and ensure high standards of planning, delivery and assessment.

You will monitor progress, identify improvements, and work with teams to ensure learners achieve qualifications and progress to further study or employment. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification and a relevant qualification in Mathematics.
• Experience of teaching Maths across a range of levels, ideally including Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE.
• Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies.

About the Role

Keighley College are seeking a Maths Course Leader to join our Study Programmes team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced maths teacher to lead and develop the delivery of mathematics across a diverse range of learners, from Entry Level through to GCSE.

As Course Leader, you will play a key role in developing the maths curriculum, supporting colleagues and ensuring that programmes are effectively planned, delivered and assessed. You will monitor student progress and achievement, identify areas for improvement, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning.

You will be responsible for providing high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring that students make strong progress and develop the mathematical knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed in their studies, employment and future progression.

You will have a strong understanding of maths education across different levels and be able to engage learners with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs. You will be passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop a positive attitude towards mathematics.

The role will involve working closely with curriculum and support teams, contributing to quality improvement activity and ensuring that provision meets the needs of our students and the requirements of relevant awarding bodies.

What You Will Do

As Maths Course Leader, you will:

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of Maths across Study Programmes, from Entry Level through to GCSE.
• Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality maths lessons that meet the needs of learners with different abilities and starting points.
• Support students to develop their mathematical knowledge, confidence and skills, enabling them to achieve their qualifications and progress to further study, employment or apprenticeships.
• Monitor learner progress, attendance and achievement, putting appropriate support and intervention in place where required.
• Develop curriculum planning, assessment and examination preparation across the maths provision.
• Work closely with teaching colleagues to share good practice and maintain consistently high standards of teaching and learning.
• Support and develop colleagues through coaching, mentoring and collaborative working.
• Analyse achievement and performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective actions.
• Ensure that teaching, learning and assessment meet college policies, awarding body requirements and quality standards.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum managers, support teams and other college departments to remove barriers to learning and improve student outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement activities within the Study Programmes department.
• Promote a positive culture where students are encouraged to engage with mathematics and recognise its importance for their future progression.

About You

You will have:

• A recognised teaching qualification and a relevant qualification in Mathematics.
• Experience of teaching Maths across a range of levels, ideally including Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE.
• A strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
• Experience of supporting learners with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and additional learning needs.
• Excellent knowledge of the GCSE Maths curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Experience of leading or coordinating a curriculum area, course or team, or the ability and ambition to take on this responsibility.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues and external partners.
• A commitment to improving student achievement, progress and retention.
• The ability to use data and evidence to identify areas for improvement and drive positive outcomes.
• A positive, inclusive and student-centred approach, with the ability to motivate learners who may have previously struggled with mathematics.
• Above all, you will be passionate about Maths, committed to high standards and enthusiastic about making a positive difference to young people's lives and future opportunities.
