Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent

Are you a passionate Maths Teacher looking to make a real difference?

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and resilient Maths Teacher to join an Alternative Provision setting, supporting students aged 11-16 who may have experienced barriers to learning within mainstream education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who can make Maths engaging, accessible and relevant, helping young people rebuild their confidence, develop essential numeracy skills and achieve their full potential.

You will be joining a setting that recognises the importance of individualised support, positive relationships and consistent approaches to learning. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping students overcome challenges, re-engage with education and develop the skills they need for future success.

The role is offered on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis, with the potential for a long-term position for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Maths Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Adapting teaching methods and resources to meet the individual needs and abilities of students.
  • Supporting students to develop confidence in numeracy, problem-solving and mathematical reasoning.
  • Preparing students for relevant qualifications, including GCSE Maths where appropriate.
  • Creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Managing behaviour effectively through consistent, positive and restorative approaches.
  • Assessing student progress, identifying learning gaps and providing constructive feedback.
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage participation, motivation and resilience.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and other professionals to support student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Promoting safeguarding, inclusion and the highest standards of student welfare.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Maths at secondary level, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Has strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly.
  • Can engage students who may have low confidence, gaps in learning or limited motivation.
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience, empathy and effective classroom management skills.
  • Can differentiate lessons to support a range of abilities and additional learning needs.
  • Is committed to helping vulnerable young people achieve positive educational outcomes.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and communicates confidently with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and believes every student can make progress.

Experience within Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), SEMH settings or other specialist educational environments would be advantageous.

Why Apply?
  • Make a genuine difference to the lives and futures of young people.
  • Help students build confidence and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work within a supportive and rewarding educational environment.
  • Develop your experience in a specialist provision setting.
  • Secure a full-time opportunity with the potential to become permanent.
