Job summary

GSL Education is working with a specialist education setting in Dorchester to recruit an inspirational and dedicated Maths Teacher who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This role offers small class sizes, a Learning Mentor for support, and the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with ASD, SEMH and complex needs.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Maths to GCSE level.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH and complex needs.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced significant challenges in previous education settings.
• Creativity, compassion, resilience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Strong skills in planning engaging learning activities that follow the National Curriculum while developing social communication skills.
• The confidence to respond calmly to challenging behaviour and support pupils experiencing high levels of anxiety.
• The ability to promote positive behaviour, guide colleagues, and adapt strategies as pupils' needs change.
• Excellent communication with colleagues and families, alongside the initiative to respond to each young person's individual needs.
