Job summary

Teach Now in Watford, Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated Maths Intervention Specialist to support KS3/GCSE learners with focused, small-group tutoring that builds understanding and confidence. You will identify gaps, tailor explanations, and deliver practice in accessible steps for each pupil.

The role requires Qualified Teacher Status and strong maths knowledge, with experience teaching secondary-level maths.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status with strong mathematics knowledge for secondary-level intervention.
• Experience teaching KS3 and/or GCSE maths in a school setting.
• Experience assessing understanding and adapting teaching to address learning gaps.
• Ability to plan and deliver effective small-group teaching.
• Availability to work five full days each week.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver targeted maths interventions for groups of up to four pupils.
• Strengthen KS3 and GCSE pupils understanding and prepare them for further study.
• Assess prior knowledge and use findings to shape future sessions.
• Explain concepts clearly through manageable steps and purposeful practice.
• Monitor progress and adapt activities to individual needs.
• Build pupils' confidence while maintaining clear expectations for learning.
