Smart Teachers are recruiting a Maths Academic Mentor to join a secondary school in East London, Newham. This role offers the chance to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students to improve their attainment in Mathematics.

Ideal candidates are graduates with strong Maths backgrounds, with experience of supporting young people and a clear motivation to pursue teacher training in the future.

Qualifications

• A graduate with a strong academic background in Mathematics or a related subject (desirable).
• Previous experience supporting young people within an educational setting.
• A confident communicator with the ability to motivate and engage students.
• Passionate about education and supporting student development.
• Considering a future career in teaching (ideal preparation for teacher training).

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with their Maths learning across KS3 and KS4.
• Delivering small group and one-to-one intervention sessions.
• Helping students build confidence and develop positive attitudes towards Mathematics.
• Working alongside teachers to identify areas for improvement and provide additional support.
• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to support learning.
• Encouraging students to develop effective study habits and independent learning skills.
