Job summary

Bangor Academy and 6th Form College invites applications for a Teacher - Post-Primary to deliver Mathematics to Key Stage 3 and 4. This fixed-term post runs until 30 June 2027 with a full-time schedule, under the Main Pay Scale/UPS3 range.

The role requires a recognised teaching qualification, a degree in Mathematics or equivalent, and experience in diverse teaching strategies to meet learners’ needs. The post aligns with NI terms and conditions and includes full-time duties across 195 days.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
• Hold a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification which has prepared the applicant to teach Mathematics as his/her main subject.
• Experience of teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and 4 to achieve positive learning outcomes.
• Demonstrable experience of using a range of teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of pupils.
• Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up post.

Responsibilities

• Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
• Teaching according to pupils educational needs; setting and marking work in school and elsewhere;
• Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.
• Promoting the general progress and well-being of pupils and providing guidance on education and future careers.
• Maintaining records and reporting on personal and social needs of pupils; communicating with parents.
• Communicating and cooperating with others outside the school as approved by authorities.
• Participating in meetings related to curriculum, pastoral arrangements.
• Providing or contributing to assessments and references for pupils and groups.
• Engaging in staff development and reviewing teaching methods and programmes.
