Job summary

The Mercian Trust is seeking an HLTA to join Shire Oak Academy as part of its inclusive education team. You will support students with SEMH, anxiety, or communication needs, lead small-group interventions, and assist with EHCPs or support plans under the IAP Centre Lead.

You will engage in regular CPD on SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive education, helping to deliver high-quality, equitable education across our academy and contribute to social mobility and outcomes for our students.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in SEND/SEMH/communication needs.
  • Experience supporting SEMH or communication needs and EHCPs.

Responsibilities

  • Support SEMH interventions and small-group learning.
  • Assist students with EHCPs or support plans.
  • Champion inclusive practice and student voice within the IAP and wider school community.
  • Engage in CPD linked to SEMH, autism, anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, and inclusive education.

We are looking for a HLTA to join our team. Reporting to our IAP Centre Lead, you will undertake:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) Evidence of ongoing CPD in SEND/SEMH/communication needs.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH, anxiety, or communication needs Experience leading interventions or small-group learning Experience supporting students with EHCPs or support plans. Experience of working in a trauma-informed and/or attachment-aware environment Champion inclusive practice and student voice within the IAP and wider school community.
  • Professional Development Engage in regular CPD linked to SEMH, autism, anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, and inclusive education.
Pay range

Pay range: Scale: Grade 6 (15-23) | Actual: £26,795- £30,730 | FTE: £31,015-£35,570, As one Trust we share a common purpose.
