Job summary

Apex Recruitment is seeking an experienced Material Controller to join the Supply Chain & Logistics team and ensure materials and components are available when needed to keep production running smoothly.

In a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will manage material availability, resolve shortages and minimise disruption while collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimise planning processes.

Qualifications

• Experience as Material Controller or within Materials Planning, Supply Chain or Production Planning.
• Strong understanding of MRP systems and material requirements planning.
• Experience supporting production within a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to managing shortages and risks.

Responsibilities

• Planning and controlling the supply of materials and components to support production schedules.
• Monitoring inventory levels and proactively managing material shortages.
• Working closely with production teams to identify and resolve supply issues before they impact build schedules.
• Using MRP systems to interpret demand and generate material requirements.
• Managing supplier communications, expediting deliveries and supporting supplier performance.
• Providing regular updates on material status, shortages and recovery plans.
• Identifying potential supply chain risks and implementing actions to minimise production disruption.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across material planning and supply processes.
• Building strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity of supply.
