Job summary

Recruitment Solutions Workforce Ltd is seeking a Materials & Supply Planner for a manufacturing operation in the UK. You will ensure material availability to support production, manage SAP-driven material requirements, and coordinate with UK and international suppliers to prevent shortages and delays.

Materials & Supply Planner

We are recruiting an experienced Materials & Supply Planner to join a well-established manufacturing operation.

This is a key role within the supply chain team, responsible for ensuring materials are available when required to support production. You will manage requirements through SAP, work closely with suppliers, monitor stock levels and take ownership of potential shortages before they impact manufacturing.

Previous SAP experience in a materials planning, supply chain or manufacturing environment is essential.

The Role

• Use SAP to review material requirements and manage purchase orders.
• Plan material availability in line with production demand and supplier lead times.
• Manage and expedite orders with UK and overseas suppliers.
• Identify potential material shortages and take action to prevent disruption to production.
• Maintain accurate supplier schedules and demand information.
• Monitor stock levels and support effective inventory management.
• Coordinate inbound materials and resolve delivery issues.
• Liaise with suppliers, freight providers and internal departments to ensure continuity of supply.
• Support international shipments and associated import processes.
• Balance availability, lead time, inventory and cost when making supply decisions.
• Provide regular updates on shortages, outstanding orders and material availability.

What We're Looking For

• Strong working knowledge of SAP - essential.
• Previous experience in materials planning, material control, supply planning or a similar role.
• Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven experience managing suppliers and expediting materials.
• Good understanding of MRP, inventory control and material lead times.
• Ability to identify supply risks and resolve problems before they affect production.
• Experience with international suppliers or inbound freight would be beneficial.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked as a Materials Planner, Material Controller, Supply Planner, Material Scheduler, Production Planner or Buyer/Planner.
