Full time – Would consider part time

Salary £25,400 to £30,000 (depending on experience)

The Role

We are seeking a Chemist to expand our team to drive further innovation. The role would suit applicants with a background in polymer or colloid chemistry ideally. It would suit a motivated, self-starting individual with experience in running a research project. As such, academic or industrial research experience would seem to be valuable. The role holder will have the opportunity to be involved in multiple innovation projects across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a Chemist include, but are not limited to:

·Preparing novel emulsion-based formulations

·Preparing test articles for internal and external testing

·Synthesis of functional polymers

·Responsible for routine laboratory maintenance and upkeep

·Perform polymer processing tasks, including operation of a lab-scale extruder

·Provide technical support to other team members as needed

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Chemist are:

·BSc/MSc in polymer/materials chemistry– or related fields

·Reliable, professional, self-motivated and tenacious - Passion for what you do

·Comfortable working as a team

·Comfortable with routinely fabricating polymeric test articles (Essential)

·Experience in polymer processing including extrusion is advantageous

·Willingness to occasionally travel internationally – expect 3 times annually

·Willingness to occasionally work outside your expertise to meet business need

·Hold a valid UK driving licence and be able to commute by car (Essential)
