Job summary

West Suffolk Council is recruiting a part-time Markets Officer to support the Economic Development team and oversee markets across five locations: Bury St Edmunds, Clare, Newmarket, Haverhill and Mildenhall.

The role focuses on day-to-day market activity coordination, trader management, rent collection and records, with a flexible schedule including Saturdays. Salary is pro-rata for 20 hours per week and benefits accompany the post.

Qualifications

• Be a good communicator and friendly; flexible for outdoor work.
• Hands-on approach to delivering services to customers and residents.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and willingness to training as required.
• Team player with clear communication within a wider team.
• Hold a Class B driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day market activities and traders.
• Collect rents and keep records for markets.
• Promote the markets and work with the Economic Development team.
• Work flexible days including a Saturday.
