Bristol City Council invites applications for a part-time Markets Operative based at St Nicholas Market in Bristol. The role supports daily operation of indoor and outdoor markets, including setting up and dismantling infrastructure, site security, and assisting traders, customers and Market Officers.
Working 20 hours per week, typically Mon–Sat with Saturday and occasional Sunday and evening rotas, you will help keep the market safe, welcoming and vibrant for all visitors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Council's Markets Team for a Markets Operative.
Based at St Nicholas Market in the heart of Bristol's historic Old City, this role plays a key part in supporting the successful day-to-day operation of both the indoor and outdoor markets.
This is a hands‑on, varied position involving the set‑up and dismantling of market infrastructure, securing the site, and providing operational support to traders, customers, and Market Officers. You will help ensure the market remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant destination for all visitors.
You will work 20 hours per week normally between Monday to Saturday. Saturday working will be required. There will be occasions when the market is open on Sundays (the Market becomes a 7 day a week operation from mid-November until Christmas) and evenings and you will be required to work as part of a rota to cover these occasions.
