Job description

At Optimised, we help organisations take control of energy, utilities and sustainability performance - reducing cost, carbon and operational complexity at scale.

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager to take ownership of our marketing function and shape how Optimised is seen as we grow.

Reporting to our Chief Commercial Officer, you’ll be our only marketer, working three days a week from our Bristol office and two from home. That means setting the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver it - from generating leads and creating content to building partnerships and looking after our brand.

You’ll be the voice of Optimised, inside and outside the business. Front facing and confident to challenge, you’ll bring fresh ideas, try new things and move quickly when an opportunity comes up.

If you want real ownership, the freedom to make your mark and the chance to see the impact of your work on a growing business, we’d love to hear from you.

We know great candidates don’t always tick every box. If you’re excited by this opportunity, share our purpose and believe you have the capability and ambition to succeed, we encourage you to apply.

Why join Optimised?

We’re not just another energy consultancy.

As a certified B Corp, we combine commercial performance with genuine environmental impact - helping organisations reduce energy consumption, control utility spend and accelerate decarbonisation.

With offices across the UK, this is an exciting opportunity to join a business with strong momentum, ambitious plans and a clear purpose.

Our solutions span:

  • Utility Management
  • Net Zero Reporting & Sustainability
  • Energy Management, Data & Performance

We work closely with clients to deliver measurable operational and financial outcomes - not just reports and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
Leading the marketing function
  • Set the marketing strategy and plan, and manage the marketing budget.
  • Report on performance to the CCO and leadership team, using data to keep improving.
  • Test new ideas and channels, and be ready to change direction quickly when the business needs it.
Lead generation
  • Plan and run multi-channel campaigns, including email, paid, social, SEO, events and webinars, that turn interest into sales conversations.
  • Make our website, CRM and marketing automation work harder, improving journeys and conversion.
  • Work closely with Sales to agree what a good lead looks like and track what’s working.
Brand voice
  • Be the voice of Optimised internally and externally, making sure our messages are clear, consistent and true to who we are.
  • Represent us at events, on panels, on LinkedIn and with the media.
  • Set the standard for how we talk about our services and help colleagues do it well.
Content creation
  • Plan and produce content across our website, case studies, thought leadership, social media, video, webinars and events.
  • Turn technical expertise into content our clients find useful and easy to understand.
  • Give the sales team the presentations and collateral they need to win work.
Brand and design
  • Own and develop the Optimised brand, making sure everything we produce reflects our purpose and B Corp values.
  • Create high-quality design work for digital and print, using Claude and other tools.
Building partnerships
  • Build partnerships with industry bodies, networks and complementary businesses that open up new routes to market.
  • Manage agencies, freelancers and suppliers to deliver value for money.
Job Requirements
  • CIM qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Strong B2B marketing experience in a professional services environment. Experience within the energy industry would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of setting, or closely supporting, the marketing strategy and delivering it hands-on, ideally as a sole marketer or in a small team.
  • A track record of generating leads and supporting pipeline growth.
  • Experience of building partnerships that deliver commercial results.
  • A good eye for brand and design, with the ability to create content yourself.
  • Comfortable using AI tools day to day, and keen to keep learning.
  • Experience of using Claude is desirable.
  • Proven experience managing and improving websites, including SEO, user experience and performance analytics.
  • Strong digital marketing skills, including PPC, SEO, email, social media, CRM and marketing automation, and up to date with the latest digital trends. HubSpot experience desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing multi-channel campaigns and content strategies.
  • Confident using data to measure performance and make decisions.
  • An excellent writer who can make complex or technical subjects clear and engaging.
  • The gravitas and confidence to be front facing, including presenting, speaking at events and representing the business externally.
  • The ability to influence and challenge at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Bold and curious, with the drive to try new things and the ability to move quickly when priorities change.
  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines, with strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Experience of managing a marketing budget and external suppliers.
  • Ability to convey real passion and belief in the business and support the drive to a net zero world.
  • An open and approachable manner, backed up by high moral and ethical standards
  • Passion for social or environmental issues.
  • Proactive attitude that brings drive, energy and passion to the role.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships both digitally and in person.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

As well as our values-led and inclusive culture, we also have a great benefits package:

  • 25 days annual leave increasing to 28 days with length of service (+ bank holidays)
  • Option to buy / sell up to 3 days holiday each year
  • Contributory pension scheme (5% matched)

  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Award-winning employee assistance helpline and online GP service
  • Cycle to work and EV car scheme
  • Annual railcard
  • Annual flu jab and eye test
  • A professional development and sustainability allowance
  • Two sustainable holiday travel days
  • One paid volunteering day each year for a charity of your choice
  • Up to one professional membership fee paid for by the Company each year
