Marketing Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated self-starter who is able to manage and deliver fast-paced multiple projects in a timely and decisive manner. The successful candidate will need to ‘stand-out’ within our business and want to set the bar extremely high in terms of communication, organisation, creativity and practical application.

The successful candidate will be joining a small team, so the role (at this stage) is less about managing people and more about becoming deeply involved in all aspects of our internal and external marketing efforts from planning and concept, right the way through to creation and delivery. This being the case the role is ‘hands on’ and will be a varied and diverse one.

This is exactly the ‘right time’ for the ‘right person’ to enter the Marketing arena within our business. Continued efforts to significantly expand our global brand reach, product positioning and industry awareness are a major ongoing business objective. We need additional key players to join a team that we believe is already second-to-none. The right candidate should therefore perceive this challenge to be a highly attractive one.

The Marketing Manager will report to the Director of Marketing & Product Strategy. The role will be remote/home based, but there will be a requirement to travel so as to meet the expectations of the position (Business Meetings/Updates, Supplier/Agency Meetings, Event Management & Attendance etc). The Marketing Manager will be expected to attend a monthly Marketing Meeting in person in Manchester.

Responsibilities

  • To support the Director of Marketing & Product Strategy in devising the short, medium and long range Marketing Plan & Strategy. To then fully manage and deliver (day-to-day) the Marketing Plan & Strategy and all its associated tasks, outputs and projects.
  • To fully ensure that the Marketing Plan & Strategy continually delivers and meets the requirements of all key stakeholders and that the plan itself is fully aligned with the wider goals and KPIs of the overall Business Plan.
  • To collate & manage informative, consistent and regular reporting on company marketing performance to key stakeholders via various platform reporting/analysis tools.

Content Build & Management

  • To manage, maintain and update all content for the company website (through Wordpress backend) and to ensure that this content is delivered swiftly, accurately and inside the agreed timeframes of the Marketing & Content plan.
  • To plan, manage and maintain all structural changes to the company website framework and skin.
  • To be instrumental in ensuring that the company website is fully optimised (via SEO, PPC etc).
  • Writing slick and far-reaching copy for our outbound marketing efforts.
  • Creating content, assets and marketing collateral, ranging from Banners, Ads, Blog Creative, Videos, Webinars and Podcasts.

Marketing Automation & Outbound B2B Communications

  • To work with the Sales & New Business team to deliver an effective programme of outbound B2B communications for lead generation, business growth and expansion of brand reach. Via our Zymplify Automated Sales & Marketing platform. This will include email template creation and build.
  • To support the management of our internal automated sales and marketing platform and to advance our effectiveness in outbound B2B communications, throughout and across multiple channels.

Social Media Management

  • To manage, maintain and update all company social media fascias and content across various platforms (predominantly LinkedIn, but also Facebook, X, Youtube and Instagram).
  • Effectively grow our social media presence and reach by engaging on a daily basis with our followers, industry news sources, and external professional opinions and comments.
  • Cultivate strong relationships internally and externally to deliver slick Thought Leadership content.

Events, Conferences & Awards

  • Be instrumental in the delivery of the annual plan for Business Events and to then manage and co-ordinate any resulting events (with the support of the Director of Marketing & Product Strategy and the New Business Consultant).
  • The events will usually be targeted towards our wider industry (CDP, Martech, Data, Analytics & CRM), a specific sector or a specific group of clients. The events will either be fully managed and delivered by XCM or will be in co-operation with our partners.
  • The events will cover those that are aimed specifically at marketing our Horizon Customer Data Platform (CDP) as well as the wider services and capability of XCM. They will also be used to promote the profile of our people through speaking opportunities, networking and thought leadership.
  • To manage our entries and participation for any relevant industry awards events.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and positioning of our products & services.
  • Conduct marketing, client and competitor research.
  • Advance our PR and advertorial efforts.
  • Support the management and delivery of all our creative/content assets, templates and guidelines.
  • Support the management & delivery of our internal (staff) business events.
  • Support the delivery and circulation of the company newsletter.
  • Support with the materials needed for training and staff inductions.
  • Support the wider business with presentation structure, format, design and delivery.

Skillsets (Essential)

  • At least 5 years experience in similar roles.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of managing and driving Marketing Plans, Marketing Budgets and Business Content & Communication plans.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of managing and working within Web Content Management Systems, preferably WordPress.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of managing and delivering all aspects of marketing performance reporting, ROI, ROAS and essential KPIs.
  • Experience of working with Google Analytics, SimilarWeb, Semrush or similar relevant reporting software.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of managing and advancing internal business social media activity, to cover elements such as content, advertising, posting, blogging, engagement and monitoring/reporting.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of working with online creative/graphic design platforms, editing software and desktop publishing tools such as Canva, InDesign, Photoshop etc. In particular, the successful candidate should be able to clearly demonstrate the ability to create slick, professional and seamless outputs.
  • ‘Significant’ proven experience of working with or managing automated marketing platforms to plan, build and execute successful outbound B2B communications.
  • Experience of planning, managing and delivering industry business events (such as conferences, seminars and awards) at a range of venue types and in a range of locations.
  • Experience of managing external suppliers, agencies, event organisers.
  • Advanced and experienced user of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).

Skillsets (Advantageous)

  • Proven experience of working at a senior level in B2B marketing.
  • A marketing degree or similar (media, creative etc).
  • Understanding of basic HTML and the ability to create HTML emails etc.
  • Experience of working within an environment connected with MarTech, Data, Analytics. AI and CRM.

  • The successful candidate ‘must’ be ultra-organised, thorough and observant.
  • A candidate who is a fast learner, self sufficient and able to work to their own initiative.
  • First-class attention to detail, a very keen eye and plenty of creative flair are all traits that are considered essential for this role.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills are a given, as is a high level of numeracy.
  • You need to have discretion and good judgement in order to react quickly to inbound leads, social media comments and general business queries.
  • You will need to be highly proactive, efficient and independent in your role.
  • You will need to be able to communicate well and with ease across departments and with stakeholders at each and every level of the business as well as external businesses.
  • The ability to grasp and comprehend tasks, routines and projects, quickly and efficiently.
  • To be flexible, highly mobile and be able to travel in both the UK and abroad as needed.
