General Summary

As part of the Celeros Operations Management team, the Manufacturing Manager (Machining) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the machine shop, weld, and fabrication areas. This includes managing people, allocating daily tasks, maintaining performance standards, and driving improvement projects to support KPIs. The role also involves supporting daily machine shop operations technically.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure a safe working environment and maintain high standards of housekeeping and visual management.
  2. Lead and manage meetings, communicate key messages including safety, quality, and daily priorities.
  3. Maintain and communicate performance metrics using visual management boards.
  4. Drive positive KPI results and uphold company values.
  5. Promote a sustainable 5S culture within the areas.
  6. Coach, develop, and manage team members’ performance.
  7. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
  8. Monitor and improve operation times, and identify operational improvements.
  9. Allocate work effectively based on schedule and business needs.
  10. Build relationships with support functions to resolve issues promptly.
  11. Possess technical knowledge in machining, fabrication, and welding to support daily operations.
  12. Manage start, stop, break times, and recovery hours efficiently.
  13. Control overtime and ensure material flow is efficient.
  14. Maintain booking discipline and lead quality standards.
  15. Communicate regularly with team and other functions.
  16. Implement safety walks, conduct audits, and manage NCRs and corrective actions.
  17. Perform other duties as required.
People Manager Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage team members positively, fostering engagement and motivation.
  2. Build trust and support personal and professional development.
  3. Conduct coaching conversations, support career aspirations, and manage performance issues.
  4. Create and maintain competency and succession plans in collaboration with HR.
  5. Manage health, wellbeing, and sickness absence proactively.
Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Proven ability to build effective teams and meet operational goals.
  • Focus on delivering results and improving customer experience and revenue.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Hands-on experience in machining and fabrication, with knowledge of related systems and standards.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in manufacturing.
Desirable Experience
  • Certifications such as CWEng or European Welding Engineer.
  • Knowledge of ASME, EN standards, and welding processes.
  • Engineering qualifications and experience interfacing with engineering and quality departments.
