NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We are looking to recruit a Radiopharmacy Production Manager to join our team in the Highlands.
The Radiopharmacy is based within the Nuclear Medicine Section of Medical Physics at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, and, when functional, operates under a Manufacturer's Specials licence issued by the MHRA. The unit manufactures a variety of radiopharmaceuticals solely for the Nuclear Medicine Department at Raigmore Hospital.
The successful postholder will act as the named Production Manager on the MS licence and be responsible for its day-to-day operation. The licence is currently suspended, and this is a great opportunity for someone with drive and experience to work towards re-establishing the licenced facility to provide an essential service to patients. The goal is to re-apply for the licence by the end of 2025.
The postholder will be supported by two dedicated Radiopharmacy staff and a rotational pool of production operators. Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent knowledge and at least 5 years of experience in Radiopharmacy, ideally including management of staff and resources. A specialist qualification in Radiopharmacy would be advantageous.
When operational, the Radiopharmacy operates from 7.00 am Monday to Friday, providing a full range of radiopharmaceuticals and a blood labelling service. The unit is purpose-built and well-equipped with two specialised cleanrooms with manufacturing taking place within a Grade A isolator. There are close links with the hospital's Department of Pharmacy, supported by a QC Pharmacist who is the named QC Manager on the license.
Inverness offers a high standard of living in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with unrivalled opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. The city is easily accessible by road, rail, and air.
A relocation package will be considered.
Informal enquiries and visits to the department are encouraged.
