Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Working within the Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement (CI) team, you will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality product is manufactured within a busy operations facility, building on a right first-time culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Manufacturing and Design departments to create, maintain, and implement robust manufacturing documentation & DFM (Design For Manufacture) for current and future projects.
  2. Provide manufacturing input into the NPI process. Monitor & track costs – adjust where required.
  3. Proactively analyze & troubleshoot existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify improvement opportunities that will increase production efficiencies and throughput.
  4. Use data-driven decision making to influence, identify, and implement areas for improvement.
  5. Identify, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes and capital equipment.
  6. Conduct production practical problem-solving activities working cross-functionally to identify root causes, develop robust solutions, and lead implementation, thereby removing waste and improving production lead-times.
  7. Actively support the business with a Lean Manufacturing and right first-time culture.
  8. Write manufacturing procedures for new projects, creating & streamlining process routings in ERP system.

About You:

  1. Minimum HNC in a related Engineering discipline (Ideally BSc / BEng in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar).
  2. Minimum 2+ years’ experience working within an electro-mechanical product manufacturing engineering team and production facility.
  3. Knowledge of mechanical & electrical engineered products.
  4. Six Sigma – Green Belt (or above).
  5. Previous experience of implementing and/or running Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
  6. Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing Practitioner with techniques & expertise in: 6 sigma, 5s, Kaizen, DoE, Poka-Yoke, KanBan, Value Stream Mapping, PFMEA, 8D, etc.
  7. Good understanding and previous experience in authoring manufacturing documentation requirements (SOPs, ERP, Product Routings, Quality checks, etc).
  8. Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  9. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting to and engaging with multi-level internal stakeholders.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  11. A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  12. Ideally, experience working with electro-mechanical products and bringing aligned best practices to support business growth.
  13. Organized, disciplined, numerate, with the ability to deliver in a timely manner.
  14. People and process-oriented, capable of building relationships and collaborating to achieve common goals.
