Carbon60 are proud to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services to recruit for a Manufacturing Engineer within the Technical Engineering department. Lufthansa Technik is a global leader in maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the civil aviation industry.
This Manufacturing Engineer position is permanent and available due to continued growth and expansion. The successful candidate will provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support shop floor operations at Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services, focusing on work instructions, tooling documentation, critical checks, and maintenance programs. Responsibilities include creating, reviewing, and improving process documentation and collaborating with the Operations team to address production defects and drive continuous improvement.
Role Responsibilities:
- Create and produce manufacturing work instructions and documentation, including tooling usage in production, critical checks, and inspection regimes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as operations, IT, tooling, supply chain, and maintenance to ensure successful project implementation.
- Investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and throughput, adhering to OEM standards.
- Identify process waste and propose solutions.
- Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), investigate non-conformities, and modify tooling or processes to correct deficiencies.
- Analyze and report on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, machine availability, and waste.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep equipment operational.
- Assist TPM (M) with structured problem-solving projects related to both project deliverables and daily manufacturing issues.
- Ensure compliance with the company's Environmental, Health & Safety, and Energy procedures.
- Develop master data for tooling and equipment control within the SAP system.
- Conduct time and motion studies, workflow analysis, line balancing, capacity analysis, and process mapping to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in creating manufacturing work instructions and documentation, including tooling usage and inspection regimes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and basic metrology skills.
- Understanding of mechanical aspects of manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication with production staff and process engineering teams.
- Experience in metal component processing, including surface finishing for aerospace components.
- Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of MRP, ERP, and MS Office.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
