Job Description Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and support the production of advanced avionics systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. You will lead on your line products and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges, drive process improvements, and support the delivery of high-quality avionics products.

Our Cheltenham facility specialises in advanced aircraft power distribution and avionics systems. The site is dedicated to design, development, manufacturing, and aftermarket services for leading aerospace manufacturers in civilian and military sectors.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design,develop, review and optimise manufacturing processes for avionics systems, ensuring adherence toSafety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)principles.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, programmes, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and control of manufacturing processes.
  • Create and maintain clear and concise manufacturing work instructions aligned with technical specifications.
  • Provide training and support to manufacturing operatives to implement changes in processes and techniques.
  • Lead and supportRoot Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Non Conformities (NC), among otheractivities to resolve production issues.
  • Analyse production data using statistical techniques to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Manage shop floor tooling, equipment, and spare parts lists, ensuring compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety standards.
  • Suggest and develop new technologies for fixtures, tooling, and equipment to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to year-on-year improvements in key metrics such asYield, Cycle Time, and Defects-Per-Unit.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering environment, preferably within avionics, aerospace, automtive or other highly regulated business industry.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies such asLean, Six Sigma, 8D, or Red X.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience creating and maintaining work instructions for avionics or composite manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with configuration control and CAD software (e.g., Catia, AutoCAD, NX).
  • Previous experience designing and managing fixtures, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Background in highly regulated industries, such as aviation or defence.
