Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is partnering with a Midlands contractor to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor in a hybrid role in Birmingham. You will lead the commercial management of refurbishment schemes and oversee a small team of 2–3 QS, ensuring CVRs, valuations and cost control are delivered on time.

The ideal candidate will have social housing or local authority experience and a proven ability to manage multiple schemes while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience with social housing or local authority contracts.
• Experience with refurbishment projects: kitchens/bathrooms, roofing, windows/doors, fire stopping or similar.
• Strong commercial experience: CVRs, valuations, forecasting and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the commercial management of multiple refurbishment schemes.
• Manage CVRs, valuations, forecasting and cost control.
• Monitor project performance, identify commercial risks and protect profitability.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, variations and final accounts.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure commercial reporting is accurate and projects stay aligned with budgets.
• Collaborate with the wider team to deliver commercial outcomes.
