Job summary

Ridings Financial Recruitment Limited is assisting a leading manufacturing business in rural North Yorkshire to recruit a proactive Management Accountant. The role focuses on production of monthly management accounts, rigorous cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting to drive profitability.

You will collaborate with production, operations and senior management to deliver robust financial reporting, insights and controls in a small, focused finance team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/AAT), part-qualified, or actively studying towards accounting qualification.
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (V Lookups & Pivot Tables) and confidence working with large data sets.
  • Experience using ERP or manufacturing systems is desirable, however full training will be provided.
  • Excellent attention to detail & analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to challenge existing processes constructively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reports, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and journals.
  • Drive month-end close processes and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Produce clear commentary on key financial results, trends, risks, opportunities, and variances against budget and forecast.
  • Monitor capital expenditure, fixed asset registers, depreciation, and investment project costs.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning.
  • Complete daily reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Produce monthly VAT returns and submit via online software platform.
  • Assist with the preparation of the weekly cashflow forecasting, providing commentary around any week-on-week variances.
  • Provide support to Project Accountant with analysis of manufacturing performance, including labour, material, overhead, cost of sales, scrap, stock, WIP, and production variances.
  • Assist the Project Accountant in developing enhanced operational reporting to track performance, support business growth, and monitor progress against KPI targets.
  • Provide support to Project Accountant with stock control processes, stock reconciliations, inventory valuation, and stocktake reporting.
  • Assist with statutory audit preparation and provide information to external advisers where required.
  • Contribute to improvements in systems, reporting tools, and finance processes.
  • Provide finance cover for other areas within the team as and when required.

Management Accountant - Manufacturing

Location: Onsite - Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire Hours: Full-time Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending upon experience Reports to: Financial Controller

Role Overview

Our client, a state-of-the-art manufacturing business, based in rural North Yorkshire, is a seeking a proactive Management Accountant to join their finance team. This role is a wide-ranging, in a small finance team, which will support the business by producing accurate management information, analysing operational performance, and providing financial insight to help improve profitability, cost control, and decision-making across the organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with production, operations, purchasing, and senior management to provide clear financial analysis, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure robust month-end reporting processes.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/AAT), part-qualified, or actively studying towards accounting qualification. Strong QBE will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in a management accounting role in a small business is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting.
