Job summary

Sammons Recruitment Ltd is assisting an established business in Eastbourne to recruit a hands-on Management Accountant. The role emphasises cost accounting, manufacturing performance, inventory and financial analysis to transform data into actionable business insight.

You will collaborate with finance and operations teams to improve cost control, reporting and profitability, with scope to drive process improvements and ERP-based costing enhancements.

Qualifications

• Experience in management or cost accounting within manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Proficient in standard and absorption costing.
• ERP systems experience (Dynamics AX, SAP or Oracle) and strong Excel modelling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse manufacturing costs and variances across materials, labour and overheads.
• Complete quarterly cost roll-ups and review BOMs and product costing.
• Monitor inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end close including inventory and cost of sales journals.
• Produce margin and profitability analysis by product and customer.
• Prepare labour efficiency and manufacturing performance reporting.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and depreciation journals.
• Produce management and board reporting around inventory, costs and financial performance.
• Develop Excel models, reporting tools and dashboards.

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join an established and growing business. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on cost accounting, manufacturing performance, inventory and financial analysis, giving you the opportunity to turn financial data into meaningful business insight.

You’ll work closely with finance and operational teams, helping to improve cost control, reporting and profitability across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse manufacturing costs and variances across materials, labour and overheads
• Complete quarterly cost roll-ups and review BOMs and product costing
• Monitor inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies
• Support month-end close, including inventory and cost of sales journals
• Produce margin and profitability analysis by product and customer
• Prepare labour efficiency and manufacturing performance reporting
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation journals
• Produce management and board reporting around inventory, costs and financial performance
• Maintain accurate costing and financial data within the ERP system
• Develop and improve Excel models, reporting tools and dashboards
• Support year-end audit requirements and provide inventory/costing schedules
• Strengthen financial controls and standardise processes
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation and cost reduction

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements

• Previous experience in Management Accounting or Cost Accounting
• Ideally 1-2+ years' relevant experience
• Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment
• Strong understanding of standard and absorption costing
• Experience working with an ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP, Oracle or similar
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, modelling and data analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of inventory, costing and financial controls
• CIMA, ACA or equivalent qualified/part-qualified would be advantageous
• Sage Payroll/HR experience would be beneficial
