Job summary

Headstar in Bradford is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant who can own monthly reporting and drive improvements in how finance operates. You’ll report to the Head of Finance and influence decision making across the business.

The role covers core accounting, commercial analysis and systems improvement, with opportunities to implement automation and AI to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.

Qualifications

• Qualified CIMA/ACCA or part-qualified
• Experience in a management accountant or similar role
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
• Excellent Excel skills; Sage experience helpful
• Experience implementing finance systems

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Support month-end and year-end processes
• Reconcile sales, cost of sales and balance sheet accounts
• Analyse performance against budgets, forecasts and previous periods
• Oversee supplier payments and statutory payment processes
• Prepare VAT returns and support wider financial reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy and controls
• Explore how automation and AI could improve finance processes and analysis
• Provide financial insight and ad hoc analysis to support business decisions
• Provide payroll support and cover

I’m working with a Bradford business looking for a Management Accountant who is commercially minded, comfortable getting into the detail and keen to improve how finance operates.

You’ll report to the Head of Finance, taking ownership of core reporting while helping the wider business understand its performance and make better decisions.

And there’s scope to get involved in improving systems, processes and controls, including exploring how automation and AI can make finance more efficient.

The Role:
