Job summary

Headstar is seeking a Management Accountant to own the monthly management accounts, perform variance analyses and provide meaningful commentary to senior stakeholders in a growing Leeds business.

You will lead a small team, report to the Financial Controller and support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management. The role offers a clear progression path toward Finance Manager as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant preferred; finalist considered (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Technically sound with detailed reconciliations and material balance sheet items.
• Commercially curious with ambition to take on broader responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Own the production of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and robust financial controls.
• Support budgeting and forecasting, working with department leads.
• Manage cash flow and support treasury activity.
• Lead on audit activity and support statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Provide financial insight to operational teams and senior stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Manage and develop the Junior Accountant, whilst working with transactional finance managers.

Management Accountant £45,000 - £53,000 + bonus Leeds

A role with the scope to grow into something bigger and develop your career.

We are working with a growing Leeds business looking for a technically strong accountant to take ownership of its management accounts, lead a small team and become a key part of the finance function.

You'll report directly to the Financial Controller, with responsibility for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls and supporting the wider business with meaningful financial insight.

It's an opportunity to make the role your own, build credibility with senior stakeholders and broaden your experience beyond the core accounting responsibilities. As you develop, there's scope to take on more responsibility and work towards a wider finance leadership role, with Finance Manager a potential progression route.

The immediate focus is on getting the fundamentals right - so they're looking for someone who enjoys the detail, takes pride in producing reliable numbers and has the confidence to work independently.

What you'll be doing:

What you'll get:

• £45,000 - £53,000 salary, depending on experience and qualification.
• Circa £2,500 bonus (based on personal and company performance)
