Job summary

Cygnet Kenney House in Oldham is seeking a Maintenance Assistant / Maintenance Operative to join our team. You will work full time (42 hours per week) to help provide a safe and healthy environment for the people in our care, colleagues and visitors.

The role involves carrying out repairs and routine maintenance, basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work, plus maintaining equipment and vehicles.

Qualifications

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
• Travel to other sites and be on call for emergency repairs.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Communicate at all levels and record detailed maintenance information.
• Experience in DIY & general maintenance; preferably electrical/plumbing/construction.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
• Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
• Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry
• Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude.

You'll be working Full Time 42 Hours a week at Cygnet Kenney House, helping provide a safe and healthy environment for the people in our care. In this important role, you'll help ensure our service remains safe, secure and well maintained, creating the best possible environment for the people in our care, our colleagues and visitors. Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open. We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House; Billington Ward, a 12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Baldock Ward, a 16 bed Acute service and Harben Ward, a 16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.
