Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Multi Skilled Electrical Technician

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK's largest healthcare systems, employs approximately 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We serve a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Sunday, 07:00-19:15/19:00-07:15, as per the shift rota.

Job Overview

Gartnavel General Hospital Estates Department seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, resilient, and hardworking Maintenance Multi Skilled Electrical Technician to join our team. The role involves maintaining a wide range of building services plant and equipment and includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical expertise, including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
  2. Deliver electrical services to meet NHS GG&C Health Board needs, ensuring safe patient care and effective estate services within healthcare facilities, focusing on quality and value for money.
  3. Inspect faults in plant and machinery, recommend repairs, and discuss potential impacts with managers and department heads.
  4. Perform planned preventative maintenance, complete work requests, and maintain records and documentation.
  5. Adhere to NHS GG&C Health and Safety policies and SHTM Procedures.
  6. Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services.
  7. Conduct electrical circuit testing in compliance with regulations.
  8. Manage daily workload and priorities, participate in on-call duties to handle emergency repairs outside normal hours.
Qualifications
  • Recognised and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft apprenticeship or City & Guilds qualification. Extensive relevant experience in building maintenance, preferably within healthcare.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a core subject, with additional skills as required.
Additional Requirements

Designated individuals must undertake training to be certified as a Competent Person and complete refresher training as needed.
