The Role

  1. To maintain a range of buildings services, plant and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur.
  2. Maintain NHSL’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, associated building services plant and building fabric assets to a high standard.
  3. This will include the planning and prioritising on a day-to-day basis of workload and material management, including documentation, completion, and sign-off.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Completion of apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias plus an HNC or equivalent, with additional non-core training qualification at SVQ level or equivalent.

In addition

  • Experience working in an estates service environment.
  • Knowledge of current statutory legislative requirements.
  • Experience with PPM and reactive maintenance planning.
  • Willingness to undertake in-house training relevant to the position, such as statutory training, Archibus, Learnpro, and Toolbox Talks.
  • Additional training in portable appliance testing, asbestos awareness, legionella prevention, PLC controllers, steam/boilers, etc., to achieve competency or accreditation.
  • Accredited Boiler/Steam course for compliance with HSE and insurance requirements.
  • Specific Medical Gas training and Medical Gas Pipeline Systems training.
  • Healthcare Ventilation course for competent person status.
  • Specialist manufacturer courses for equipment like industrial laundry machinery.
  • Development of skills in other areas such as complex air conditioning systems.

Please note: a full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required for relevant vacancies.

Location and Working Pattern

This role is based in the PSSD Maintenance department within West of Scotland Laundry with various shift patterns (Day/Back Shift). Applicants may be considered for similar roles in different locations.
