NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
There is 1x permanent, full-time post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Thursday (8am-4pm) and Friday (8am-3.30pm).
Gartnavel General Hospital Estates Department is currently looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and hardworking Mechanical Multi Skilled Technician to join the team. The requirements of the post are to maintain a wide range of building services plant and equipment and provide technical expertise when required, including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
The role involves supporting the NHS GG&C Health Board by operating an efficient estates service within the healthcare facilities to ensure safe patient care, delivering planned maintenance, repairs, and installations that are of high quality and cost-effective.
Responsibilities include examining faults in plant and machinery, recommending repairs, discussing with managers the potential impact on wards, theatres, and patients, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and adhering to NHS GG&C health and safety policies.
The ideal candidate will have a recognized and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft apprenticeship or City & Guilds qualification, with extensive relevant experience, preferably in healthcare settings. A qualification such as an HNC or equivalent is also essential.
Applicants must be willing to undertake training to be certified as a Competent Person for specialist duties and refresher training as needed.
