Coats Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a permanent role based in Lye, West Midlands. You will support the Maintenance Manager and production teams, performing planned maintenance, repairs and site upkeep to keep machinery and production running smoothly.

Applicants should have mechanical engineering grounding, strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance within a manufacturing environment.

Formación

• Apprenticeship or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in a maintenance technician role in manufacturing/engineering.
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns.
• Strong fault-finding, repair and problem-solving skills.
• Fabrication or component manufacturing experience is advantageous.
• Good organisation and ability to prioritise tasks.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections, servicing and repairs on machinery, equipment and plant.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and faults to minimise downtime.

• Identify faults requiring specialist contractors and liaise with Maintenance Manager.

Maintenance Technician

Location: Lye, West Midlands

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-4:30pm; Friday, 7:00am-1:30pm

Contract: Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join an established manufacturing business based in Lye.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the Maintenance Manager and production teams to ensure machinery, equipment, facilities and site operations run safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, responding to machinery breakdowns, carrying out repairs and supporting general site maintenance to minimise downtime and maintain production output.

The successful candidate will have a mechanical engineering background, strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections, servicing and repairs on machinery, equipment and plant.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and faults across company sites to minimise production downtime.
• Fabricate or manufacture components where required to support maintenance repairs.
• Identify faults that require specialist contractors and liaise with the Maintenance Manager.
• Record maintenance activities and updates using the company's maintenance management system.
• Assist with maintenance planning, inspections and the annual review of the maintenance programme.
• Carry out regular inspections of factory areas, grounds, security systems and buildings.
• Support the installation, relocation and positioning of plant and machinery.
• Assist with maintenance work at customer sites when required.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health and safety, and quality procedures.
• Coordinate maintenance priorities with production, engineering and management teams.
• Support other departments when required and undertake keyholder duties, including securing the site.

Skills and Experience

• An apprenticeship, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a maintenance technician role, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to equipment breakdowns.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, repair and problem-solving skills.
• Fabrication or component-manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise maintenance tasks effectively.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance planning systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production and quality teams.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with a strong commitment to health and safety.
