Responsibilities

  • Complete PPM schedules and reactive maintenance within service levels.
  • Carpentry, joinery, ceilings, doors, locks and minor repairs on building fabric.
  • Perform fire safety routines including call points, emergency lighting and fire doors.
  • Undertake water hygiene and Legionella tasks per procedures.
  • Support mechanical, HVAC and building services maintenance through inspections and checks.
  • Monitor BMS, identify alarms/faults and escalate as needed.
  • Oversee specialist contractors, manage permits and inductions.
  • Maintain records in CAFM and ensure compliance documentation.

Job description

We are looking for a multi-skilled maintenance professional with strong building fabric experience and a practical understanding of mechanical, electrical and public health services.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a varied workload, is comfortable working independently, and understands that some days will be hands‑on while others may involve overseeing specialist contractors and site activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance tasks within agreed service levels.
  • Carry out building fabric maintenance including carpentry, joinery, ceiling and floor finishes, doors, locks, ironmongery and minor repairs.
  • Perform fire safety routines including call point testing, emergency lighting checks, fire door inspections and fire extinguisher checks.
  • Undertake water hygiene and Legionella control tasks in line with site procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Support mechanical, HVAC and building services maintenance including inspections, cleaning, adjustments and routine checks.
  • Monitor building management systems (BMS), identify alarms or faults and escalate issues where required.
  • Manage and oversee specialist contractors, including permit-to-work administration, inductions and health and safety monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records within the CAFM system and ensure all statutory, compliance and maintenance documentation is completed correctly.
  • Demonstrable experience completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities within a facilities management or building services environment.
  • Practical building fabric maintenance skills, including carpentry, joinery, doors, locks, ceilings and flooring.
  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm testing and emergency lighting testing.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures, including permits to work, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Able to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where workload can fluctuate between busy operational periods and quieter days overseeing contractors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors.
