Job summary

Schneider Electric Newport site seeks an LV/HV Maintenance Technician to own planned preventative maintenance of LV/HV switchgear at a critical facilities environment. You will inspect, test, and repair electrical distribution equipment, ensuring safety and reliability while keeping accurate reports.

You will work in a supportive engineering team, liaise with customers and subcontractors, participate in risk assessments, and support outages and project activities.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds or equivalent in electrical maintenance.
  • Basic experience working in industry or a commercial environment.
  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures, LOTO and permit to work.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment and interpret results.
  • Competent in maintaining maintenance records and completing work documentation.
  • Be very self-motivated be efficient at time management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance on LV/HV switchgear.
  • Conduct inspections, testing and condition assessments of the electrical switchgear and associated equipment.
  • Carry out fault finding, repair of electrical switchgear.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports timely for both the customer and company.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning and modification of electrical systems.
  • Support shutdowns, outages and planned project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical regulations, company procedures and health and safety legislation.
  • participate in risk assessments, method statements and permit to work processes.
  • Liaise with the customer, other Schneider engineers and sub-contractors and become a valued point of contact at the critical facility.

Working as part of a supportive engineering team within a market leading company, you will take ownership of the planned preventative maintenance, occasionally reactive on a range of Schneider electric switchgear and associated equipment, for one of our premium customers. The role involves carrying out inspections, maintenance, testing and repair of low voltage and high voltage switchgear and associated electrical distribution equipment at a critical facilities environment. The successful candidate will support the safe and reliable operation of the electrical infrastructure through planned preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

For this UK based position, the expected pay range is GBP 41,200 - GBP 61,800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United Kingdom. Our pay ranges are determined by the local market.
