Job summary

Sanctuary Care in Worcestershire is seeking a Maintenance Operative at Beechwood Residential Care Home in Upton-Upon-Severn. The role offers £14.00 per hour, 39 hours per week, and a supportive environment focused on growth and recognition for your contributions.

You will perform essential maintenance tasks, safety checks, small repairs, and coordinate with contractors to uphold high standards of care for residents. Join a team recognised for training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Practical maintenance skills including plumbing and minor repairs.

  • Strong communication with residents, families and colleagues.
  • Valid driving licence and reliable transport.

Responsibilities

  • Access practical training to build confidence in key tasks – plumbing, repairs, and safety checks.
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks to keep residents safe.
  • Complete minor repairs and maintain the home and garden to a high standard.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, colleagues and contractors.
  • Coordinate contractor visits and ensure work meets quality standards.
  • Provide cover at other Sanctuary Care homes when needed.

Your role
  • Access practical training to build confidence in key tasks – including plumbing essentials and repair best practices
  • Benefit from development opportunities shaped by Maintenance Operative feedback
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks to keep everyone safe
  • Complete minor repairs and maintain the home and garden to a high standard
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, colleagues and contractors
  • Coordinate contractor visits and ensure work meets quality standards
  • Provide cover at other homes when needed
  • Practical experience in minor repairs, basic plumbing and DIY
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols (Legionella awareness desirable)
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively
  • Valid driving licence and access to transport
  • Confidence using an iPad or laptop for compliance tasks
