Job summary

Vita Group in Newcastle, Strawberry Place, is seeking a Maintenance Operative for day-time shifts. This permanent, full-time role offers 42.5 hours per week with a salary of £28,500 plus a performance-related bonus and generous benefits.

You will respond to maintenance requests, carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance, inspections, and general repairs to ensure high building standards and safety compliance for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Experienced delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
• Skilled across a variety of maintenance functions.
• Well-versed in delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Demonstrable understanding and adherence of safety compliance regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance tasks.
• General repairs, such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.
• Performing minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.
• Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass-cutting & hedge-trimming/shaping.
• Safety compliance. Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.

Day Time Shifts

Salary: £28,500 plus performance related bonus and generous benefits (please see below).

Contract: Permanent, full-time. A minimum commitment of 42.5 hours per week

Required Days of Work: Monday - Friday

Working Hours: Between 9am-6pm

Overtime: We occasionally offer overtime opportunities, particularly over the summer months during our student turn-around season. These additional hours help us maintain the exceptional service and support our residents expect.

Our Maintenance Operative play a critical function, ensuring the smooth running of operational building facilities. This is a customer-facing environment where you will be responsible for maintaining Vita Student’s highest building standards.
