Job summary

Vita Student in Edinburgh is expanding its housekeeping team with a position for a Housekeeper to deliver a home-from-home cleaning service across residents' studios, while maintaining premium site and facilities to the highest standards.

The role requires experience in large multi-room residence facilities, flexibility to cover a 10am–6pm shift with varied patterns, and a solid understanding of COSHH regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in large, multi-room residence facilities such as accommodation buildings, hotels or hospitals.
  • Good understanding of COSHH regulations and practices.
  • Operations rely on technology systems and software; being tech savvy is important.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a thorough, personalized room cleaning service for student studios to a high standard.
  • Dust, sweep, vacuum, and perform antibacterial cleaning of surfaces; make beds.
  • Record each studio clean via smartphone/tablet with photos before and after.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in ordering to maintain inventory.
  • Respond to issues or emergencies onsite and act as a point of contact.

Hourly Rate: £13.45 plus generous benefits (please see below).

Contract: Permanent, part-time. A minimum commitment of 16 hours per week

Required Days of Work: Monday - Friday flexibility is required throughout the week

Working Hours: Varied shift patterns, between the hours of 10am - 6pm. Full flexibility required.

Overtime: We offer overtime opportunities to support both planned and unplanned shift cover. These additional hours help us maintain the exceptional service and support our residents expect.

We're expanding our housekeeping team with the appoint of an experienced Housekeeper to deliver a home-from-home cleaning service for our residents' studio apartments whilst ensuring our premium site & facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

Vita Student's Housekeepers

Provide an exceptional, personalized room cleaning service to students by ensuring their studios are maintained to a clean, healthy & presentable standard. Working towards designated schedules, cleaning duties include but are not exclusive to; dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, anti-bacterial cleaning of surfaces and making beds.

  • Ensure our facilities are being looked after respectfully by students & guests.
  • Maintain the upkeep of our premium site & facilities.
  • Be on hand, delivering solutions to issues or challenges that may arise.
  • Be a point of contact for any potential incident or emergency that may occur onsite.
  • Maintain waste management areas adhering to health & safety regulations, ensuring potential hazards are addressed / cleaned / tidied / reorganised as required.
  • Using a smart phone / tablet, record & manage each studio clean: each studio clean is to be photographed prior to, and at the end of each clean.
  • Report any concerning behaviour of students that could be an indication of welfare concern.
  • Monitor cleaning stock levels and communicate needs to the Assistant Residence Manager or Residence Manager. Assist in ordering stock to maintain appropriate inventory.
  • Housekeepers must understand and follow "Control of Substances Hazardous to Health” (COSHH) regulations to protect their health and safety when using cleaning chemicals.

  • Flexibility: Our facilities are open to residents 24 hours a day, 356 days a year including all bank holidays, festive & religious breaks. Where festive and religious celebrations require time off, we will always try to accommodate, however flexibility from our Customer Service Assistants is imperative to be available as required to ensure continuous service to residents.
