Job summary

Goole, East Yorkshire-based manufacturing client is seeking a Temporary Maintenance Operative to perform building maintenance and assist with low-level engineering tasks, with a view to developing into an engineer role.

The role is 3–6 months, 40 hours per week, paying £15–£16 per hour. Candidates should have H&S/food safety awareness, basic computer skills (Word, Excel), and a willingness to learn and follow an engineering development plan.

Temporary Maintenance Operative

3 - 6 Months

Our manufacturing client is looking for a Temporary Building Maintenance Officer to carry out building maintenance activities, with a focus on learning and undertaking low-level engineering tasks.

The Role

• Planned maintenance of operational machinery (PPM's)
• Upkeep of critical spares stocks
• When required take part in engineering projects and commission new equipment
• Upkeep of planned maintenance schedules
• Liaise with external contractors where required (electricians, plumbers etc.)
• Maintenance procedures and documentation are accurate and up-to-date
• Plant logs up to date and maintained
• Assist in preparing site when required for external and regulatory audits
• Support and maintain site equipment
• General site maintenance
• Ensure H&S compliance is maintained at all times and is the No 1 priority
• Immediate H&S risks must be escalated at once
• Any unsafe practices are to be identified, managed and reported utilising business H&S management systems. (Risk Alerts, Near Miss etc.)
• Proactively support all audit requirements and department improvements

Experience (Essential)

• H&S/Food safety systems and legislation. Including Machinery Guarding (IOSH)
• A good level of computer skills in Word, Excel, etc. is required
• Basic Building and Facility maintenance
• Willingness to learn engineering tasks
• Willingness to follow and complete an engineering development plan, with the potential to progress into an engineer role
• Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces

Skills & Experience (Desirable)

• A high level of computer skills in Word, Excel, etc.
• HACCP Level 2
• Engineering Operations Level 2 (or Equivalent)
• H&S/Food safety systems and legislation. Including Machinery Guarding (IOSH)
• A basic knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques
• Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces
• Fabrication & Welding
