Job summary

Admirals Reach Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Chelmsford to carry out maintenance across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.

You will work closely with the Home Manager, support planning and contractor coordination, help maintain a safe, well‑functioning environment, and ensure all work meets health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.

Job description

will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep. You will ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action. Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you will support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination where required. You will help maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards.

About Admirals Reach Care Home

Admirals Reach Care Home is a 158 bed care home located in a quiet residential area of Chelmsford, Essex. Providing residential, nursing, residential dementia and nursing dementia care, the home offers a welcoming environment with bright living spaces, landscaped gardens, comfortable lounges and a strong family atmosphere. Maintenance Operative Contract

£14.05 to £14.40 per hour

Contracted to 37.5 hours per week

Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided

5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the home remains safe, well maintained and fully operational at all times. This is a hands on role with responsibility, where your practical skills and proactive approach will directly support the safety, comfort and overall environment.
