Job summary

Admirals Reach Care Home in Chelmsford is seeking a Maintenance Operative to keep the building safe and fully operational. You will carry out repairs, inspections and general upkeep across the building and grounds, ensuring equipment and systems function safely and efficiently.

Working with the Home Manager, you will assist with planning, safety checks and contractor coordination, while maintaining a proactive, practical approach to maintenance and improvements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.
• Work closely with the Home Manager and wider team, supporting maintenance planning and compliance checks.
• Coordinate contractors where required to maintain a safe, functional environment.
• Maintain a well organised environment in line with health and safety standards.
