Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is working with a leading global manufacturer in Exeter to appoint a Maintenance Manager. You will lead a substantial maintenance operation, overseeing engineers, technicians and team leaders.

The role focuses on improving plant reliability, reducing downtime and developing a proactive maintenance culture within a large manufacturing facility in Exeter. Monday to Friday, days, with a £65,000+ salary, bonus and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience as Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance leader in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong technical engineering background (apprentice-trained or HNC/HND/degree in electrical or mechanical engineering).
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary maintenance teams and managing budgets.
• Good understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance, plant reliability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a maintenance department of engineers, technicians and team leaders.
• Oversee planned preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance across a large and varied range of equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase reliability, reduce downtime and improve maintenance efficiency.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies, identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs.
• Manage maintenance KPIs, engineering budgets and departmental performance.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and perform root cause analysis for long-term fixes.
• Support machinery upgrades and capital investment projects.
• Collaborate with production and senior management to ensure maintenance aligns with manufacturing needs.
• Develop the engineering team's capabilities through training and performance reviews.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with standards.
