W Talent, partnering with a fast-paced manufacturing business in South Sheffield, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a small team of Maintenance Engineers. You’ll drive preventative maintenance and hands-on fault-finding in a dynamic plant environment near Chesterfield.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor or Engineering Team Leader role.
  • Strong background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, Plastics, Heavy Engineering, Automotive or similar.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and managing teams.
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

W Talent are proud to be exclusively partnering with a fast-paced manufacturing business based in South Sheffield (Near Chesterfield) who are looking to hire a new, Maintenance Manager to join the team. This is a pivotal and exciting new position within the business, offering quick progression into Engineering Management. Initially, you will be responsible for managing a team of four Maintenance Engineers, with the role growing and developing as the business continues to expand.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Team Leader looking to take the next step in their career, or a ready made Maintenance Manager who is looking join a business where you can make a real impact. The business is open to candidates from a wide range of manufacturing backgrounds, including FMCG, Plastics, Food & Beverage, Heavy Engineering, Automotive and General Manufacturing. Whether you have worked in a high-volume production environment or a complex engineering facility, your experience will be considered.

The Role - Maintenance Manager

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the maintenance function, ensuring machinery, equipment and production facilities remain operational within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will oversee a small team of engineers while remaining hands-on when required, supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities and driving improvements across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, supporting and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers.
  • Planning and coordinating planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Managing reactive maintenance issues to minimise production downtime.
  • Supporting fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Working closely with production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Ensuring health & safety standards and engineering procedures are maintained.
  • Supporting engineering projects, installations and machinery upgrades.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor or Engineering Team Leader position.
  • A strong background within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within industries such as FMCG, Food, Beverage, Plastics, Heavy Engineering, Automotive or similar.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience managing or mentoring engineers.
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

What's on Offer

The role offers a competitive salary of £40,000 to £55,000 depending on experience, working Monday to Friday on a days-based position located in South Sheffield, near Chesterfield.
