Be you. At work.

Here at Locke, we create spaces where you can be you - and we don’t just mean our design-led aparthotels. From front desk to back office, on-the-ground to behind-the-scenes, our team makes Locke what it is. Forget demographics: we’re building a community of the culturally curious. The forward-thinking. The ever-questioning.

The role.

Are you a handyperson? A practical powerhouse who carries tools in case of an emergency? Can you spot a maintenance problem before it even becomes one?

You’ll make Locke feel like home by keeping our building and apartments looking fresh, so our guests feel comfortable, relaxed and cared-for. Reporting to the Head of Facilities, with a dotted line to the General Manager, you’ll oversee services, repairs, painting, and upkeep of apartments to standards worth writing home about.

What it looks like;

  • Working with the General Manager to set an annual maintenance budget and sticking to it throughout the year
  • Coaching and being accountable for your team, including setting SMART objectives
  • Delegating effectively to keep things running like clockwork
  • Being a role model for edyn’s values
  • Regularly reviewing service contracts and purchase orders
  • Creating and delivering a refurbishment schedule
  • Making sure apartments are looking and working their best for guests’ arrivals and throughout their stays
  • Carrying out maintenance quickly and efficiently to minimise impact on revenue
  • Looking ahead to possible future maintenance issues and proactively resolving them
  • Being on-call for maintenance needs, including out-of-hours on a rota system
  • Supporting management in staying on top of health and safety duties
  • Possibly managing new building works and projects, including supporting on refurbishments
  • Being the point-person for contractors and making sure work is up to scratch
  • Using CAFM systems and reporting
  • Being happy working both on your own and as part of a team
  • Line management responsibility of a team (where applicable)
  • Being an active member of the team in meetings and development sessions
  • Handing over thoroughly to front desk to make sure the housekeeping team is up-to-speed with maintenance developments
  • Working closely with the team to ensure uninterrupted service to guests
  • Communicating calmly with guests to resolve any issues

What you’ll need:

  • Human-led leadership skills and experience managing a team
  • Ideally plumbing, gas and electrical trade qualifications
  • Ideally experience of launching a new building
  • Intuitive customer service
  • Natural influencing skills with a knack for managing expectations
  • Brain built for problem solving
  • Reliable decision-making
  • Confidence to act quickly and take smart risks based on insight
  • Strong grasp of spoken and written English
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Rock-solid time management
  • Flexible approach and a can-do attitude
  • Confidence using IT systems and software (including Microsoft Office)

Values you’ll share;

  • Courage to question, evolve and be human
  • Curiosity to seek out innovation, change and creativity
  • Confidence to challenge convention and look for better ways to do and be
  • Accountability and the desire to empower those around you
  • Freedom to be yourself at work, just as much as at play
  • Acceptance that perfection doesn’t exist and no one has a monopoly on good ideas
  • Recognition of humanity in yourself and others to learn fast, evolve and grow

In return we offer you a bonus scheme, holidays (including the option to buy more if you want them), wellbeing benefits (Cash Plan and an Employee Assistance Programme), free nights in our properties, awesome recognition schemes, pension (the tax efficient way), company sick pay and further benefits tailored to your individual needs.

When and Where?

We believe in working flexibly - this includes flexibility in work location, working days (including weekends and bank holidays in operations) and working hours. This may be ad hoc or permanent flexibility. Ask your recruiting manager or see our careers page for more information.
