Job summary

Arthur Rose Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Fabricator Welder for a site-based role in Doncaster. The candidate will perform mechanical maintenance on heavy plant, fabricate and weld components, and assist with preventative maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and safety of conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and related equipment.

Applicants should be able to work outdoors, plan maintenance tasks, and participate in a weekend overtime rota as required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a mechanical maintenance fitter in heavy industrial or plant environments.
• Strong fabrication and welding skills with on-site repair capabilities.
• Good knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, motors and related mechanical systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults and perform effective repairs.
• Experience working outdoors on operational site environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance and fault finding on heavy plant and equipment.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, gearboxes, motors and other mechanical systems.
• Support site operations with the PPM team to understand equipment needs.
• Identify spill points and transfer points to improve cleanliness and reduce spillage.
• Carry out fabrication/modification work to improve reliability, safety and performance.
• Respond to breakdowns and assist with preventative maintenance.

Location: Doncaster, DN4 (South Yorkshire)

Pay Rate: £16.50-£19.00 per hour, dependent on experience

Working Hours: 7:00am-5:00pm

Overtime: Weekend work on a rota basis, paid at overtime rates

Job Overview

Arthur Rose Recruitment are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Fabricator Welder to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance skills, proven fabrication and welding experience, and a background working with heavy plant and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding and repairs on heavy plant and associated equipment.
• Maintain, repair and support the operation of conveyors, gearboxes, motors and other mechanical equipment.
• Work alongside the PPM team to understand site operations, maintenance procedures and equipment requirements.
• Identify and address problem areas, particularly spill points and transfer points, to improve site cleanliness and reduce material spillage.
• Carry out fabrication and modification work to improve plant reliability, safety and performance.
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and assist with preventative maintenance activities.
• Work independently when required, planning and completing maintenance and fabrication tasks effectively.
• Follow all site health and safety procedures and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and organised condition.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance fitter role within a heavy industrial or plant environment.
• Strong fabrication and welding skills, with the ability to carry out repairs and modifications on-site.
• Good working knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, motors and associated mechanical systems.
• The ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Experience working outdoors and in an operational site environment.
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise maintenance tasks.
• A strong understanding of safe working practices within an industrial environment.
