TipTopJob is partnering with a Yeovil aerospace site to recruit a hands-on Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer. You will perform breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance and fabrication, using mills, lathes and pillar drills.

The role includes welding, sourcing parts and updating CMMS records to keep world-class operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in mechanical maintenance, strong fault-finding skills and experience with hydraulics/pneumatics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
• Proven fault finding and repair skills in mechanical systems.
• Good working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery.
• Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems; some electrical/control involvement.
• Dismantle, repair, replace and test machine components for optimum performance.
• Perform fabrication and machining tasks to support maintenance and improvement work.
• Carry out welding and sheet metal work using mills, lathes and pillar drills.
• Maintain accurate CMMS records.
• Source parts, tools and consumables as required.
• Support CI projects to reduce downtime.

Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance engineer to support their operations at Yeovil based aerospace site within a fast:paced manufacturing setting.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety:taking on fault finding, repairs, fabrication, and contributing to continuous improvement in a dynamic production environment.

Location: Yeovil

Salary: A GBP 38,500 per annum + Bonus

Shift Pattern: Monday : Thursday 07:00:15:30 Friday 07:00:12:00

The Role

• Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
• Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
• Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
• Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
• Carry out welding, fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
• Maintain accurate records using CMMS
• Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
• Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime

Relevant Skills And Experience

With previously experience of working within heavy industry, youll be a mechanically biased engineer with:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a mechanical maintenance role
• Strong mechanical fault:finding and repair skills
• Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
• Proven ability to carry out welding
• Experience in fabrication and component repair
• Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills advantageous
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, multi:skilled maintenance engineer or Shift Engineer. In addition you may have served with the military, armed forces, army, navy, RAF or REME
