Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Fitter.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Experience with conveyors, bearings, shafts, hydraulic systems and production machinery.
• Good health and safety understanding in an industrial environment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, practical hands-on maintenance approach.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the site.
• Inspect, grease and service plant and machinery.
• Replace bearings, shafts, rollers and other components.
• Diagnose and replace hydraulic hoses and associated components.
• Carry out breakdown repairs and mechanical fault finding.
• Maintain conveyors, processing equipment and associated machinery.
• Assist with maintenance on mobile plant when required.
• Reset electrical breakers and assist with basic electrical fault diagnosis.
• Identify recurring faults and report issues to management.
• Complete maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work closely with the operations team to minimise downtime and maintain plant performance.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.

Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Fitter – Late Shift

Location: Longford, Coventry, CV6

Salary: £18.00 – £21.00 per hour

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 00:00

Employment Type: Permanent After 12 weeks

About the Role

Soraya Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Fitter to join a growing recycling company on a permanent late-shift basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on, mechanically skilled engineer who enjoys working in a busy industrial and production environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping recycling and processing equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the site.
• Perform routine inspections, greasing and servicing of plant and machinery.
• Replace bearings, shafts, rollers and other mechanical components.
• Diagnose and replace hydraulic hoses and associated components.
• Carry out breakdown repairs and mechanical fault finding.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, processing equipment and associated machinery.
• Assist with maintenance and repairs on mobile plant where required.
• Reset electrical breakers and inverters and assist with basic electrical fault diagnosis.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or similar.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding experience.
• Experience working with conveyors, bearings, shafts, hydraulic systems and production machinery.
• Good understanding of health and safety within an industrial environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, practical and hands‑on approach to maintenance.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Desirable

• Experience within recycling, waste processing, manufacturing, quarrying or other heavy industrial environments.
• Basic electrical knowledge, including breakers and inverter resets.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Experience maintaining mobile plant.
• Experience working with heavy-duty processing or recycling machinery.
