Job summary

Net Zero Careers Accelerator (NZCA) is seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to join our busy waste management operation in Caythorpe. The role covers maintenance, servicing and repair of mobile and static plant to ensure safety, reliability and uptime.

We are looking for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, diagnostic ability and experience with hydraulic and electrical systems. This is a permanent, on-site position offering competitive hourly pay (£16–£20) depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on repair experience.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with hydraulic systems and with electrical wiring/looms.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on mobile and static plant.
• Service and repair loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.
• Diagnose faults across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain electrical looms and connections; troubleshoot equipment.
• Minimise downtime by responding to breakdowns and reporting recurring faults.
• Work with teams to keep equipment available and safe.

We are looking for an experienced

Mobile Plant Fitter to join a busy waste management and resource recovery operation. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of mobile and static plant, helping to keep equipment safe, reliable and operational.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong mechanical knowledge, diagnostic ability and experience working with hydraulic and electrical systems.

Important to Know

• Permanent position based in Caythorpe.
• £16.00 - £20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
• Experience with heavy plant or industrial machinery is important.
• The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Experience within waste management, recycling, construction or heavy industry is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on mobile and static plant.
• Service and repair equipment including loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.
• Diagnose and repair faults across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical looms, wiring and connections.
• Respond to breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring faults.
• Work closely with operational and engineering teams to maintain equipment availability.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures.
• Report hazards, defects and incidents promptly.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Maintenance Fitter or similar.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on repair experience.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with hydraulic systems.
• Experience with electrical wiring, looms and connections.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy operational environment.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Experience in waste management, recycling, construction or heavy industry.
• Experience with conveyors, shredders, balers, compactors or picking lines.
• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience carrying out both mechanical and electrical diagnostics.
