Job summary

FM Conway is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer to lead electrical and mechanical maintenance for our asphalt and aggregate plants in the UK. The role requires hands-on fault diagnosis, planned maintenance, and rapid breakdown response to maximise plant availability.

You will support CMMS records, assist with projects, and may mentor apprentices. This full-time, on-site position offers development within a long-standing engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance within a process/manufacturing environment.
• Level 3 engineering qualification required.
• 18th Edition wiring regulations certification essential.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance to maximise plant uptime.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs, installations and breakdown responses.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures including permit to work and LOTOTO.
• Support maintenance systems, including CMMS updates and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering projects from planning through commissioning.

members What skills and experience do you need? To be considered for this role it is essential that you have experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance within a process or manufacturing environment, along with a strong understanding of health and safety and safe isolation procedures. You will hold a Level 3 engineering qualification and 18th Edition wiring regulations certification. You should be a strong problem solver, able to work independently or as part of a team, with good communication skills and a full UK driving licence. What benefits will you receive? FM Conway is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division and play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our asphalt manufacturing plants. As our Maintenance Engineer you will perform a multi-skilled role, carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance, supporting plant operations, and contributing to continuous improvement and future project work. This is a full time, permanent role. The successful Lead Fitter will join a brand-new team and will be crucial to setting up the new plant, helping to establish engineering standards, site performance and operational success from the very beginning. Joining ahead of the plant opening in 2027, you will initially work across our existing, 24-hour advice lines and support from our in-house mental health first aiders.
