Job summary

FM Conway is launching a brand-new asphalt manufacturing plant in Wellingborough. We are seeking a Plant Supervisor to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division to oversee a multi‑skilled role managing the plant, mobile plant, weighbridge, and shifts, coordinating operations from day one.

You will lead a team, ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, and help establish high standards for site performance across our Southeast and Midlands sites as the plant opens in 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience with asphalt plant manufacturing operating systems.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices and legislation.
• Experience operating loading shovels, telehandlers and weighbridges.
• Strong customer focus, attention to detail, and ability to lead and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and motivating the operational team to achieve excellence and continual improvement in quality and efficiency.
• Managing stock levels of fuel, constituents and raw materials.
• Ensuring mixing plans are carried out in a cost‑effective manner.
• Carrying out weighbridge functions and coordinating the daily delivery schedule.
• Reporting critical issues in a timely and accurate manner.
• Generating task‑specific risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Controlling and supervising contractors in line with health, safety and environmental policies.

The duties of the Plant Supervisor role will include:

• Supervising and motivating the operational team to achieve excellence and continual improvement in both quality and efficiency
• Managing stock levels of fuel, constituent and raw materials
• Ensuring mixing plans are carried out in an effective and cost-effective manner
• Carrying out all weighbridge functions, including managing the daily delivery schedule and maintaining effective communication with team members to ensure customer needs are met
• Reporting critical issues in a timely and accurate manner
• Generating task specific risk assessments and safe working practices
• Controlling and supervising contractors in line with company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

What skills and experience do you need?

To be considered for our Plant Supervisor role, you must have experience with asphalt plant manufacturing operating systems. You will have a good understanding of health and safety practices and legislation, along with experience operating loading shovels, telehandlers and weighbridges. You will have a strong customer focus, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.

FM Conway is currently seeking a Plant Supervisor to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division and play a key role in launching our brand-new asphalt manufacturing plant in Wellingborough. The Plant Supervisor will perform a multi-skilled role that includes operating the asphalt plant, mobile plant, and weighbridge functions, alongside coordinating shifts and supervising the site. This is a full time, permanent role.
