Job summary

ATA Recruitment partners with a market-leading FMCG group in the UK to recruit a Maintenance Engineer. The role pays £55,000 with profit related pay, private healthcare and a 7% pension, plus yearly pay reviews. This is a monitored, stable opportunity with strong long-term prospects.

The successful engineer will maintain electrical and mechanical systems, lead small teams, teach junior engineers and ensure safety and food safety standards are met within a multi-shift factory environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a multi‑skilled environment with electrical equipment.
• Educated to Level 3 in an electrical field.
• Willing to work in an FMCG/food safety environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth running of the factory by performing reactive and planned maintenance, including electrical installations.
• Look after the workshop, manage tools and stock, and order supplies as needed.
• Mentor junior members of the engineering team and support their development.
• Fault finding on electrical and mechanical components; read schematics and check I/Os/HMI screens.
• Operate with an electrical bias and maintain adherence to safety standards.

Shift -Normal Working Days:

• Wk 1 Monday to Friday 07:00 to 19:00,
• Wk 2 Sunday to Thursday 19:00 to 07:00,
• Wk 3 off, 10 days off
• Week 4 Monday to Friday 07:00 to 19:00,
• Week 5 Tuesday to Saturday 19:00 to 07:00
• Week 6 off (7 days off)

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join one of the largest as well as one of most stable companies in the FMCG sector. Due to growth and demand from the customers, the opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer has arisen. The successful Maintenance Engineer will have the opportunity to grow into leadership positions, as well as having real recognition for the effort they make in the workplace.

Responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the smooth running of the factory, by performing reactive and planned maintenance work. Electrical installations.
• Taking ownership of looking after the workshop, ensuring all the tools are correctly stored as well as ordering new stock when necessary.
• Teaching junior members of the engineering team to company standard and to ensure their success where possible.
• Fault-finding on both the electrical and mechanical components. No programming required but need to have the ability to check I/O's, read schematics and check HMI Screens.
• The ideal candidate will have an electrical bias.

About you:

• Experience in a multi-skilled environment, being able to work with electrical equipment.
• Due to the nature of the work, you should be happy to work to food safety as well as health and safety requirements.
• Educated to a minimum of a Level 3 in an electrical field.
